In the second part of Grim Hunt, the atmosphere turns suffocating. Several members of the 'Spider-Family' vanish mysteriously: Arana, Kaine, Julia Carpenter... all of them hunted by the Kravinoffs, who organise their hunt with fearsome precision. Their aim is clear: sacrifice one of these 'Spider-Men' to bring Kraven back from the dead.
The trap closes on Peter Parker when his own Aunt May is kidnapped. That cruel act exists only to weaken his guard. When he discovers the full scale of the plan, he realises that this time it is not simply revenge: it is a rite of passage, a legacy of blood the Kravinoff family intend to honour at any cost.

The duel with Kraven: revenge or damnation?
Peter Parker comes face to face with a Kraven brought back to life... but deeply unhinged. The man of honour he knew is gone. Kraven no longer wants to beat Spider-Man. He wants to die for good. And for that, he needs Peter to kill him.
But Spider-Man refuses. Even after so many deaths, even after the sacrifice of Kaine, he will not cross the line. He is not a killer. That choice unsettles Kraven: he realises his curse is to live for ever, in an existence he hates. He is a prisoner of his own body and of his obsession.
The final fight is brutal in a way few of them are. Joe Kelly's script pushes Peter into his darkest corners, flirting with revenge. But in the end it is his moral code that wins out. He neutralises Kraven without killing him, proving he is far more than a man in a costume.
The Kravinoff family, meanwhile, falls apart. Kraven's resurrection comes at a price: every soul is altered. Their actions did not give a hero his life back, they created an immortal monster, wandering for ever.
This sequence echoes other intense confrontations, such as Kraven's Last Hunt or Spider-Man No More, where the hero is forced to face his own psychological limits. Those moments of doubt are the very heart of Peter's identity.
