All the casts of the Spider-Man films

Who plays Peter Parker, Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy or the iconic Spider-Man villains on screen? Here you will find the complete cast of every single Spider-Man film, gathered in one pillar page built to make comparing the generations, the characters and the universes easy.

From Sam Raimi’s cult trilogy (2002–2007), which defined an entire era with its dramatic tone, its humour and its iconic antagonists, to the two The Amazing Spider-Man films (2012–2014), more modern, more “science/lab”, and built around a different kind of emotional intensity… you can follow the full evolution of the web-slinger through those who have played him and those who have fought him.

The page also covers the MCU Spider-Man films, where Peter steps into a shared universe, with Tony Stark’s legacy, recurring allies, and threats that reach far beyond New York. You will also find the major supporting characters (friends, teachers, authority figures), the cameos, and the “surprise” roles that blew the multiverse wide open.

In short: a clear, complete and genuinely handy guide to checking who plays who, comparing the versions, and understanding how each saga shaped one of the most iconic superheroes in the history of cinema.

The Andrew Garfield era: a more modern, more tormented Spider-Man

After Sam Raimi’s landmark trilogy, Sony took a major creative turn with The Amazing Spider-Man. This new era marks a clean break: a Peter Parker who is more cynical, more highly strung, deeply scarred by loss and by his own darker side.

Played by Andrew Garfield, Spider-Man becomes more acrobatic, more sarcastic and, above all, more human in his flaws. The story gives centre stage to science, to Oscorp, and to the very real consequences of experiments run without limits.

This period also stands out for a far more intense emotional charge, above all through the relationship with Gwen Stacy, which leads to one of the most striking and tragic moments in the character’s screen history.

The Andrew Garfield era lays the foundations for a more grown-up Spider-Man, more realistic and more dramatic, paving the way for the multiverse explorations to come.

The Tom Holland era: Spider-Man in the MCU, between legacy and responsibility

After the darker, more emotional choices of the Garfield era, Spider-Man shifts dimension once again by officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Tom Holland, Peter Parker becomes a teenager at the heart of the story again: brilliant, impulsive, and constantly torn between his school life and the weight of a heroic destiny.

This period introduces a key element: Spider-Man no longer operates alone. He finds himself plunged into a world of alliances, planet-wide threats and mentor figures, where every decision carries an impact far bigger than he is. The tone is more dynamic, lighter at times, but always built around one central idea: responsibility cannot be delegated.

The Tom Holland era also modernises the hero’s iconography: advanced technology, gadgets, new costumes, and reputation stakes in the age of social media. But behind the spectacle, the strongest theme is still the search for identity: Peter wants to prove his worth without betraying who he really is.

Finally, this phase of the MCU pushes Spider-Man towards more radical choices, where emotion, guilt and sacrifice become unavoidable. Little by little it turns the teenager into a complete hero, able to own his decisions… even when they shatter everything he is trying to protect.
