The resistance takes shape: Spider-Men by the hundred
Faced with the relentless threat of the Inheritors, the spider-heroes have no choice but to unite across the dimensions. Far from a simple duo or a small team, what we witness here is the birth of a genuine arachnid army. Every Spider-Man and Spider-Woman once thought isolated — or sometimes forgotten — is called up to form a common front.
The story then shifts into a dynamic of desperate resistance. We meet fascinating characters such as Spider-UK, guardian of the multiverse, along with Peni Parker, pilot of the SP//dr robot, and even a Spider-Man T-Rex! This visual and narrative diversity gives the arc a richness all of its own, with every version carrying its own story, its own wounds, its own strengths.
Peter Parker (Earth-616) naturally sits at the centre of the conflict. But here, he has to learn to co-operate and give up control. A tall order for someone who has always carried the weight of the world alone. He crosses paths in particular with Superior Spider-Man (Otto Octavius in Peter's body), sparking explosive tensions between the hero's different incarnations.
Every attack by the Inheritors is brutal. Spider-Men die. Others flee. The universe has never felt so fragile. And yet, at the heart of the chaos, something else takes shape: a universal solidarity. The price of blood: betrayals, sacrifices and revelations
The heart of Spider-Verse beats to the rhythm of sacrifices and impossible decisions. As the Inheritors methodically hunt down every Spider, some heroes fall — not for nothing, but to save the others. It is in this stretch of the arc that the stakes turn personal, almost visceral. Ben Reilly, Spider-Monkey and Captain Spider all pay the ultimate price.
But in the middle of the carnage, certain secrets resurface. We learn that the Inheritors are hunting three specific Spiders: the Blood Totem (Benjy Parker, the baby Spider), the Silk Totem (Cindy Moon) and the Father Totem (Peter Parker). Their deaths would seal the fate of the arachnid multiverse. This is no longer merely a war: it is a cosmic ritual rooted in the totemic myths of the web.
And as so often with Spider-Man, strength comes from unity… and so does conflict. Superior Spider-Man refuses to follow Peter and tries to seize power. That ideological split creates a gripping dramatic tension: between those who want to save everyone and those who accept strategic sacrifices.
Cindy Moon, better known as Silk, also proves to be a double-edged sword: her presence draws the Inheritors in, but her bond with Peter — charged with a very strong romantic tension — also gives her a unique place in this war. She becomes both prey and the trigger for unity.

The final battle and the legacy of Spider-Verse
The last battle of Spider-Verse takes place on Earth-001, stronghold of the Inheritors. It is there that every Spider-Man, Spider-Woman and Spider-Creature still alive converges. Their plan? Turn the tables and trap the Inheritors in their own domain. The collective intelligence of the Peter Parkers, Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man 2099 and many others makes an unprecedented strategy possible… but a risky one.
With the help of Leopardon (the giant Japanese robot), of Spider-Ham (the Spider pig), and even Spider-Punk, the group fights an all-out battle where universes collide. The Inheritors are powerful, immortal… but not invincible. Thanks to an unexpected twist — the freeing of Karn, the repentant traitor — the Spider-Men manage to turn the tide: the Inheritors are banished to a radioactive world… the very one that killed their brother, forever uninhabitable for them.
This arc closes a colossal chapter of the multiverse, and Peter Parker comes out of it more mature, more of a strategist, ready to lead the others. Above all, it marks the birth of a true Spider-Army, a community of spiders that exists beyond time and space.
